Cyanotype Workshop Thursday, June 6: 12-4

$50.00

This workshop focuses on a non-silver photographic process of Cyanotype. A 19th century, direct photographic process, that does not require either a camera or a darkroom (characterized by a rich blue color of the image) and it’s use in creation of simple folded artist’ books. Book artists draw from printmaking, photography, bookbinding, letterpress, and other mediums to create original art works in book form and this mixed media approach is explored during the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring existing drawings or artworks, flat objects, such as lace or plant life, and photographic imagery. Students will learn how to create direct prints (photograms) using actual objects and how to make negatives from existing artwork and use them to make cyanotype prints. The resulting prints could be further embellished or decorated and then assembled into a concertina fold book. A maze book option will be shown as well. No previous experience with photography or printmaking is necessary.
